PropPal – Event-Driven Compliance Pipeline (AWS, AI)
Introduction
PropPal is a cloud-native backend system designed to help proprietary traders avoid breaking risk rules. Built using AWS services and AI, it ingests, cleans, and transforms unstructured trading rule data into structured JSON for compliance and automation.
This project uses an event-driven architecture powered by AWS S3, Lambda, and CloudWatch, with decoupled processing stages and defensive parsing. It showcases secure design using IAM with least-privilege roles and integrates OpenAI for intelligent data extraction.
Results
The project delivered a working prototype capable of transforming messy rule text into structured compliance data. It demonstrated practical skills in serverless architecture, AWS services, and working with real-world unreliable data. It also strengthened my experience in building scalable systems, debugging cloud workflows, and integrating AI for backend automation.
